Drive
Keep files for yourself, share them with your organization and your groups, and use them from your computer and projects.
Keep files for yourself, share them with your organization and your groups, and use them from your computer and projects.
Drive holds your files and the files you share. Open it with Drive in the sidebar.
| Place | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| My Drive | Only you. |
| Your organization’s drive | Everyone in the organization. |
| Each of your groups’ drives | The group’s members. Organization owners and admins see every group’s drive. |
To share a file, put it in your organization’s drive or a group’s.
Uploading a file with the same name as one in the folder replaces it with the new version.
Changes made anywhere else, by someone else, on a computer or by a project’s agent, show up without reloading.
Deleting a file or folder, from the page, a computer or a project, moves it to that place’s Trash for 30 days. From there you can Restore it (beside anything that took its name meanwhile) or delete it for good. After 30 days it’s deleted for good.
Your computer keeps your drives in its Drive folder (~/Drive, also on its desktop):
| Folder | Place |
|---|---|
My Drive | My Drive |
<organization name> | Your organization’s drive |
Groups/<group name> | Each group’s drive |
Files you or the AI add, change, rename or delete there reach Drive within seconds, and Drive’s changes reach your computer within seconds while you’re using it. When a file is changed in two places at once, both are kept: the other copy is saved beside it as <name> (conflict <date>).
A project’s agent and Shell find your organization’s drive and the drives of the project owner’s groups at /drive (/drive/<organization name>, /drive/Groups/<group name>). They can read and write them, so an agent can use shared specs, assets and data, and save what it makes. The owner’s My Drive isn’t there.
/drive is outside the project’s files, so it’s never committed, backed up with the code or published.
The Drive page shows how much space your organization’s files take, Trash included. The hosted OneDrop has a limit per organization; an upload that would go over it says so. Empty Trash to make room.
