Open a project whose sandbox is running.

Sessions

A Shell opens and takes input

• The project opens with a Shell tab; it shows the OneDrop banner with the project’s name.
• Clicking the tab puts the cursor in it; typing works straight away.
• The prompt starts in /workspace, and ls lists the app’s files with git status.
• Copy and paste work both ways (select text in the Shell, paste a command into it).
• Resizing the browser or the pane rewraps the output; btop fills the pane.

More Shells

• + → Shell opens Shell 2, Shell 3…, each with its own session (cd /tmp in one doesn’t move the other).
• Shell tabs can be dragged into a new order.

Sessions survive a reload

1. In a Shell, start something long-running: while true; do date; sleep 1; done.
2. Reload the page.

• The Shell comes back with what was on screen, and the loop is still printing.
• Moving the Shell to another pane keeps it running too.
• A new browser tab on the same project gets its own new Shells.
• A Shell whose tab you close ends a few minutes later (ps in another Shell no longer shows it).

Panes

• Split right and Split down each open a new Shell in a new pane, up to four panes.
• Open shell here from the files panel opens a Shell in that folder.

After the sandbox sleeps

1. Leave the project for over a minute (the sandbox suspends), then come back.

• The Shell reconnects by itself and still has its session.
• After five minutes or more (the sandbox stops), the Shell starts a fresh session that works.

Built-in tools

Run each one; it should start without an install step.

• bat, rg, fd, z, jq, tree and Ctrl-R history search.
• lazygit, micro (Ctrl-S saves) and vim open full-screen and exit cleanly.
• psql, mysql, redis-cli, python3, uv, pnpm, yarn, yq, xh, shellcheck print their versions.
• /opt/onedrop/restart restarts the preview.

Cloud and service CLIs

These install on first use through onedrop-tool.

• onedrop-tool list shows every tool, its version, and whether it’s installed.
• Running a tool that isn’t installed yet (try wrangler --version, then gcloud --version) installs it with a short message, then runs the command.
• Running it again starts at once.
• onedrop-tool install az doctl installs both ahead of time.
• An app with its own copy (wrangler in its node_modules) uses that copy.
• Installed tools are still there after the sandbox updates.
